An email autoresponder is a form of marketing automation software that automatically sends an email already prepared to contacts in your mailing list. Email sending is triggered when contacts meet certain predefined conditions that can be characteristics (for example, date of birth) or behavior (for example, the contact fills out a signup form).

A/B testing in terms of marketing is a technique of showing different elements of the same campaign (for example, an email campaign with two different subject lines) to different user groups to determine which version/focus provides the best results and greater target group engagement.

An email blacklist (or ‘block list’) is a collection of domains and/or IP addresses that cannot send emails to email users due to spam activity. There are different types of blacklists, including internal ones managed by web mail providers (Gmail, Outlook, etc.), external ones managed by security companies (Proofpoint, Barracuda, Cloudmark, etc.) and, finally, those managed by non-profit organizations (Spamhaus, SURBL, etc.).

A bulk email service is a company that allows its customers to send bulk email campaigns to different recipient lists. A bulk email service will charge your customers based on criteria such as the number of emails sent or the number of contacts stored.

Mass email software refers to software that has been specifically designed for optimal sending of bulk emails to different recipient lists.

Chat refers to the conversation window that appears when someone visits your website. Allows the visitor to communicate directly with a representative of the company.

CRM (Customer Relationship Management) refers to the software system used to store and manage all information relating to its customers and potential customers.

The ability to deliver an email refers to an email’s ability to be successfully delivered to a contact’s inbox without being filtered as spam by email clients.

Double opt-in is a system for adding new contacts to the email list of meeting an email address using an enrollment form and sending a confirmation email to that address to validate contact information before adding it to the list.  It is also an opportunity to confirm subscriber consent, which is an important aspect of RPI compliance.

List targeting refers to the process of dividing an email contact list into smaller “segments” based on certain shared characteristics. This allows email marketers to create more specific and relevant content based on the interests of each segment.
